Large and fearsome looking, civilized orcs look little different than their barbaric kin. Their demeanor, however, couldn't be further apart. Civilized orcs are pragmatic, slow to anger and very interested in agricultural work. Their physiology, however, isn't the only connection with their less civilized cousins; an orc roused to anger is still a force to be reckoned with.

Physical Description

An adult male orc is roughly 6 feet tall and 210 pounds, with females being not much smaller. Males tend to have darker skin coloration than females, with males taking on darker grey tones to their green skin, while females tend to have a slightly mottled green coloration . An orc's lower canines often grow long enough to protrude from their mouths, and these “tusks,” combined with heavy brows and slightly pointed ears, give them their notoriously bestial appearance. While orcs may be impressive, few ever describe them as beautiful.

Orc societies are very involved with the earth, often spending a great deal of time cultivating it. Orc societies are typically known for their enormous farms and fine produce. Orc families are unusually small, often with only one or two children, but their communities are often rather large, with many families living together and sharing work on each others farms.

Despite being rather peaceful people, orcs regularly train themselves for combat. Often this is to simply defend their homes and farms from wild animals and bandits, but orcs who turn to the military are fierce warriors.

It is usually only those who have not met civilized orcs that are wary of them, believing them to be no different than their barbaric kin. Orcs often have close relationships with humans, and intermarriages between the two races are not unusual in areas where both races are common. Dwarves and elves are the most likely to be suspicious of orcs.

Orcs tend towards a relaxed life, slow to anger and and seeking to look towards each other rather than rules (either breaking or following them) - as such, orcs tend towards being neutral good.
