Re: Legacy Items

Here's the final build of Kath's Honor from the original thread:
Kath's Honor Mk II
L8 +1 Holy Sacred Mithril Greatsword (4k from pocket)
L10 +1 Holy Sacred Mithril Greatsword of Lion's Charge
L12 +1 Holy Sacred Charging Mithril Greatsword of Lion's Charge
L14 +1 Holy Sacred Charging Mithril Greatsword of Lion's Charge
L16 +1 Kathsworn Holy Sacred Charging Mithril Greatsword of Lion's Charge
L18 +1 Kathsworn Holy Sacred Charging Silverwing Mithril Greatsword of Lion's Charge
L20 +1 Kathsworn Holy Sacred Charging Silverwing Colliding Mithril Greatsword of Lion's Charge (3.2k from pocket)

Holy: This power makes the weapon good-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against all creatures of evil alignment. [+1]
Sacred: Sacred: Extra d6 damage vs Undead or 2d6 vs Evil Outsider [+1]
Lion's Charge: Pounce and Rhino Rush (double damage on the first attack on a charge, uses swift action to activate) [13.8k]
Charging: +2d6 damage on a charge
Kathsworn: Casts Greater Planar Ally (1/day). Command word summons a Planetar called Gathas, who is linked to the sword. Gathas will perform up to 10,000 GP value of service for free (as Gathas is aligned with Kath and the sword's wielder). More services can be negotiated with him. Gathas remains on this plane until the task is complete. [43.2k]
Silverwing: Form of the Dragon III 1/day (silver dragon, 15 minutes) [43.2k]
Colliding: +5 damage on all attacks [+2]
Lion's charge is listed at 13.8k, with no daily limits. This is substantially more than the cost listed for the original build, leading me to believe that it's already been changed to permanent rather than 2x day. If I remember right, we removed the incrementing flat enhancement bonus in exchange for a few things. Making those permanent could be one of the things I got out of the deal.

Original:
Kath's Honor

L8 +1 Holy Undead Bane Mithril Greatsword
L10 +1 Holy Undead Bane Mithril Greatsword of Brutal Surge
L12 +2 Sacred Holy Undead Bane Mithril Greatsword of Brutal Surge
L14 +2 Sacred Holy Undead Bane Mithril Greatsword of Brutal Surge
L16 +2 Kathsworn Sacred Holy Undead Bane Lioncharge Mithril Greatsword of Brutal Surge (500 gp)
L18 +3 Kathsworn Sacred Holy Undead Bane Lioncharge Mithril Greatsword of Brutal Surge
L20 +3 Silverwing Kathsworn Sacred Holy Undead Bane Lioncharge Rhinocharge Mithril Greatsword of Brutal Surge (500 gp)

The Mithril cost of 4000gp per pound is paid for from your general funds. The sword has surpluses noted in parenthesis, so you can get 1k of it back as you level up if you like.

Brutal Surge: (1+Con Bonus/day), on hit Bull Rush (+2 CMB if wielded in two hands), but you don't follow the target. (+1)
Bane vs Undead: Gains an additional +2 Enhancement Bonus and +2d6 damage vs Undead.
Sacred: Extra d6 damage vs Undead or 2d6 vs Evil Outsider.
Silverwing: Cast Form of the Dragon III (1/day). Command Word turns you into a Huge Silver Dragon for 15 minutes. (43,200)
Lioncharge: On command casts Lion's Charge (Gain Pounce, casts as swift action) 2/day. (4,320)
Rhinocharge: On command casts Rhino Rush (Next charge deals double damage, casts as a swift action) 2/day. (4,320)
(43,200 gp)
Austin, can you verify?

Okay. For the record, here are the formulas for action-activated items.
No limit = Spell Level * Caster Level * 1800 * 4
Limited Use = Spell Level * Caster Level * 1800 * Uses/5

So Lion's charge is a 2nd level Ranger spell, that already activates as a swift action. For unlimited use, it would be 2*4*1800*4 = 57,600 gold. For 2/day, it would be 5760.

Rhino's Rush is a 1st level Ranger spell, that already activates as a swift action. For unlimited use, it would be 1*1*1800*4 = 7200 gold. For 2/day, it would be 720 gold.

I have no idea where those previous numbers came from. Assuming you want to do it all the time, which is how you have been using it all along, this is going to be the cost of your weapon at level 19 and at level 20.

+1 Kathsworn (43.2k) Holy (+1) Sacred (+1) Charging (+1) Frightful Aspect (43.2k) Mithril (4k) Greatsword of Lion's Charge (64.8k) = 183.2k out of 162k (since you are paying for the Mithril out of pocket)

At level 20, adding Colliding (+2 enhancement) makes it worth 223.2k out of 200k.

To make the current weapon fit into the 162k limit for level 18/19, we'd have to limit the pounce part of Lion's Charge to 10 times per day. That cuts the price in half nearly (36k for both abilities), putting you at 154.4k. 10 times per day is often more than the rounds of combat we see, so it likely wouldn't have made a difference in previous levels. Rhino's Rush would still be on every charge (assuming you never use a swift action for anything else) but Lion's Charge would only be 10 times per day.

At level 20, you can either drop Colliding for a +1 enhancement something and increase Lion's Charge to at-will, or you can keep Lion's Charge at 10/day and keep Colliding on there. In order to not rework the weapon again, I'd recommend the latter.

Sounds good to me. 10/day is plenty.

You might ask Brian how many you've used today, because it might matter if we have another fight.

I know in the current fight, I've only used it once. I started keeping track after we found out the limitation.
