Would it be possible to change the additional +1 at level 12 to a +1 "Discipline Weapon" bonus from Tome of Battle? It's a +1 bonus, and essentially the same as a +1, but gives a +3 to maneuvers from that discipline, or a +7 if you use both a stance and maneuver from that discipline. It'd be nice if I had that earlier.

Ok, it's actually +1, +3, or +7 to the attack roll. Not as powerful as I originally thought, but may be handy for high AC targets, or for use with Power Attack.

As a reminder, unless other wise stated, "command word" abilities require a standard action to activate.

Hate to be "that guy", but I'd like to change the Silverwing ability on my sword. It just doesn't fit with what Alder does. He has a completely different build than what was intended at level 1.

I've been looking at level 8 cleric spells (assuming that they have the same cost as a level 8 wizard spell) and would like one of these:

• Greater Planar Ally - Get Gathas additional times of day, or call his brother, uh, Carl in addition.
• Frightful Aspect - seems like an odd choice at first, but I could see Adler being terrifying to evil stuff. Intimidation is kind of Alder's thing.
• Holy Aura - makes sense for this sword.

Assuming you are taking Frightful aspect for the enlargening and fear aura, not the DR (useless against most things with weapons and stuff that already has DR/Magic) or the spell resistance (SR 15 is entirely useless), it's a good choice. It's automatic, no save, for all enemies within 30 feet. That's good (assuming they survive to deal with the penalties).

Holy Aura isn't that great. The deflection bonus and resistance bonus won't stack with the gear you probably already have. SR 25 is better than SR 15, but not much; Mauril has to roll a 4 to punch it and the things with spells we'll fight will be about the same. The mental protection is identical to a spell 7 spell levels lower (and exponentially cheaper). The blinding effect has a save DC of 18; an average CR 20 critter has a bad save of at least 17.

Another planar ally would be cool, but I've only seen you use Gathas once...

Yah, Frightful Aspect would be more for the enbiggening and fear aura. The DR would be nice when it works, but the boost to str, con, and AC is the main reason.

What's a word that means terrifying in a holy way? Astounding? Awesome (in the colloquial sense)?

"Divine Visage"? You take on characteristics of Kath, becoming terrifying to everyone.

I could go for that.

EDIT: I think it needs to be an adjective that I can just swap out with 'Silverwing'. Terrible? Extraordinary? Harrowing?

I'm not sure what his EQ is, but the bonuses to stength and con are size bonuses and would stack with any bonuses that aren't size bonuses. The natural armour bonus would stack with an amulet of natural armour. The DR would not stack (only the highest would apply) and SR wouldn't stack with any existing SR.

Also, since it's a polymorph effect, you couldn't be polymorphed further with another spell. So no using this and form of the dragon, for example.

The str and con are 'size bonuses', so yes. The AC is a 'natural armor', and I have a +5 amulet, so I'll get a +1. The increase in size puts me at -1 AC, so it's basically a wash. I won't be able to attack mounted while enlarged (unless someone wants to enlarge Clarion for me), so I don't get the charge bonuses for being mounted.

Your amulet is an enhancement bonus to natural armour. The spell increases your base natural armour. Think of it like this: normally your armour is 0 if you are just in clothes. If you put on a breastplate, your armour is +6. If you cast magic vestment at level 20 on it, that armour gains a +5 enhancement bonus to it. It's the same here, just replace "armour" with "natural armour".

Aha! Good to know. So, would it be a net +6, or would I still have the -1 for being large (net +5)? I suppose that depends on what size your opponent is...

Assuming some arbitrary numbers, your AC would look like this:
Fullplate = +9 armor
Magic Vestment = +5 enhancement to armor
Dexterity - Dex > 15, mithral armor = +3 dexterity
Amulet of Natural Armor = +5 enhancement to natural armor
Ring of Protection = +5 deflection
Frightening Visage = +6 natural armor
Large Size = -1 AC

So: 10 + 14 (armor) + 3 (dex) + 5 (deflection) + 11 (natural) -1 (size) = 42 AC, touch 17, flat-footed 39

Your opponent's size has nothing to do with your armor class.

I think it'll just be a 40 for me at this level. Of course, that's another command word. Another standard action, another round.
